Website Research

Dernière mise à jour : 18 avr. 2019

Describing and analyzing several websites of the same and different genre of my artist, will help me building my own for the Music Promotion Package.

Snoh Aalegra (pop)

Her website'theme, the space, is according to her last album "FEELS". The most significant links, according to her, are placed at the top of the page.

The category "music" include her songs, a music video and an album from platforms such as youtube, spotify, soundclouds and Itunes. The page"shop" contains her merch and "lookbook" is a photoshoot of the merchandise, a significant promoting strategy as it is nicely presented. The cathegory "Tour" enable her fans to have the official dates of her concerts.

Moreover she added the link of her Trumblr page in "Snoh Diary", an uncommon aspect that bring her closer with the listeners that wish to get to know her better through a less used social media among famous singers. However the links to her Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts are also accessible but more discrete at the bottom of the site.

Beyoncé (hip-hop)

Considering her popularity, Beyoncé's website contains endless of content.

The music category contains all of her albums, whereas there is the possibility to view pictures, videos, lyrics and to buy the specific album we clicked on.

All of her previous concerts are visible on the "Tour" page with the possibility to buy the tickets directly from her site. Pictures and videos of each tour are also available.

There is also the possibility to purchase her products, such as all type of clothes and her parfums.

The "VAULT" section regroups a large amount of pictures of her private life, such as family pictures, of editorials from dozen of magazines and from her various performances on stage.

Additionally, her listeners can sign in to "get advance access to news, special experiences, exclusives merchandise, and more".

Her social media platforms are almost useless if we have to compare the amount of content there is on the website and her social accounts. But there is anyways the links to follow her on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Lorde (indie/pop)

Lorde's website is extremely simple and straightforward. There is any clear visuals of the artist but only the links to her Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and Facebook accounts, the dates of her concert, the possibility to sign up and her store.

Ravyn Lenae (R&B)

As Snoh Aalegra, the aesthetic of her website and the main content are related to her last album. It is mainly on the main page as the viewers scroll down that all the information are visible: the music platforms where you can listen or buy her songs, such Spotify, Deezer, Amazon and Itunes, her concert dates, music videos and the possibility to subscribe in order to "keep up with all things Ravny".

The website also represent clear pictures of her, like Beyonce, in contrast to Snoh Aalegra and Lorde.

Ama Lou(indi/pop)

Her page is relatively easy to navigate through: 4 categories are written on the top of the page in capital letters and there is just the need to scroll down to discover more. She has all the conventional links such as her music and social platforms as well as the access of her concerts' tickets and merchandise.

Conclusion:

The minimalist and refined style, like Ama Lou, Lorde and Ravny Lenae, is more appropriate to the brand image of my artist and my preferences. The essential convention I will include are the links of the social media platforms, then I will let my inspirations during the creation process to challenge or follows others conventions.
